Q. How do we get the necessary information to you? A. We recommend faxing claims information to us at least once a week - or you may choose to mail the information. We will guide you in the necessary information needed to complete a claim successfully.
Q. How often are patients billed? What about past due accounts? A. If you contract for this service, patients will be billed on a monthly basis for any balance due - once an EOB has been received by their insurance carrier. Patients will receive past due notices for 30, 60, and 90 days past due. After 'soft collection' attempts have been exhausted, we would recommend turning the account over to a collection agency. Referrals are available.
Q. Why is there a Practice Setup Fee?top A. The Practice Setup Fee is a one time fee that covers the many things that need to be accomplished when you first sign up for our services. These include getting your practice setup with our clearinghouse, within our SW system, with insurance carriers, creating your patient database...plus much more! We invest a tremendous amount of time and energy providing these services to you - all of which take place before generating any claims.
Q. How soon can we get started?top A. We can start immediately! From start to finish it can take an average time of 1 to 4 weeks to get you setup, depending on the circumstances surrounding your practice. We can give you a more specific time period once we have had the opportunity to analyze your practice. In general, it takes approximately 1-2 weeks to get setup electronically for commercial carriers and 6-8 weeks for BCBS and Medicare. In the meantime claims would be dropped to paper by our office. To begin an analysis of your practice, print and complete our Practice Analysis form, then fax it to us at the number contained within the document.
Q. What reports do you provide? top A. We will provide regular monthly reports based on the needs of your practice, as well as weekly transmission reports. Additional, customized reports are also available upon request for a nominal fee. If you elect to have remote access, you are also able to run ANY report you'd like, whenever you want and as often as you want.
Q. What are your fees?top A. Fees often vary by practice, depending on the size and specialty of the practice, volume of claims and any additional services contracted. We believe that this enables us to provide affordable services to even the smallest of practices, without compromising quality. Request More Info on fees for your practice!
Q. Can the physician's office have remote or read only access to their data?top A. Yes - though additional fees may apply. The system we use, iSalus Healthcare (www.isalushealthcare.com) has two components - BillingMD and OfficeMD. Clients may have access to VIEW anything they want within the billing system, as well as run any reports they'd like. However, clients do NOT have access to enter any transactions or information within the billing system. Clients also have the option to take advantage of the many benefits of also using OfficeMD, ie: scheduling program, printing superbills, etc.
Q. Isn't it true that it's cheaper to do claims myself rather than use an outside billing service?top A. Absolutely not true! What is the most expensive item in a providers practice?
FULL TIME EMPLOYEES (F.T.E.)
Using an outside billing service has other advantages:
Puts your employees back working for you, not the insurance companies.
Projects you have put off or are not making as much progress on as you would like, due to the fact your employees are going through the mundane chores as dictated by the insurance carriers, finally are getting done!
Many health care providers see an increase of billing efficiency, based solely on the fact that their billing services concentrate strictly on billing and/or billing & collection. We understand this is not possible in the traditional clinical or private practice setting, because of the different situations and tasks that arise within your office:
a. Interruptions by fellow staff members, patients or the provider.
b. Interruptions caused by the telephone.
c. Lack of billing consistency and efficiency caused by other projects or tasks not associated with billing.
